MESSAGE FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR
On behalf of management and all staff of Soroti University, I welcome all our new and returning students to this 2021/2022 Academic Year. You are valued members of the University community. Your success whether in A level, in the laboratory or lecture room or workshop is also our inspiration and success. We are committed to providing the training and support you need, to achieve it. No matter the challenges posed by COVID – 19 we are well determined to overcome them.
As a growing institution, Soroti University is committed to training the next generation of scholars, practitioners and professionals. The University has well equipped teaching and learning resources laboratories and a committed teaching and technical staff. I assure you the University offers accredited programmes. Academic Registrar’s department will get you through them. And many resources will be available to you during the course of your education in this University.
This communication provides you with very important information that will guide you on the ways in and out of the University but most importantly in your studies and other activities, to ensure that you excel while here at Soroti University. Please read this message carefully and completely so as to familiarise yourself with your selected course of study and the associated rules and regulations accompanying them It is your responsibility to know and comply with the relevant regulations. Please interest yourself with the materials that given to you from different offices of the University. These materials will assist you in setting your own goals for navigating successfully through your programme. The programmes of study are broad, varied and cover the whole spectrum of your course, semester by semester. All staff members working in the University are working tirelessly to produce distinctive graduates by providing you with high quality learning material and a conducive learning environment.
To ensure this, the Faculty specifically follows the University’s rigorous quality assurance practices very closely. Our academic programmes are constructed and reviewed by teams of consultants before accreditation to ensure they are up-to-date and meet the requirements and standards of NICHE. As students, you should on your own part display diligence, discipline, patience and devotion to your studies. Ensure that you attend all classes and participate in all University activities. Specifically pay attention to the lecturers, complete all your assignments and engage in sufficient self-study. Due to the pandemic, you will find that some lectures will be taught face to face and others online. Please endeavour to make the best use of them.
Ensure that you take care of your health particularly by adhering to the SOPs set by the Ministry of Health in preventing and controlling the spread of Covid-19. Eat well, exercise regularly, participate in constructive core curricular activities and get adequate rest. Manage your time very wisely. The University has a clinic to attend to you in time of need.
Make sure at all time you are motivated to do your work and seek assistance promptly from the relevant authorities if you are faced with any challenge or problems. I urge you to work very hard, and be good people for this is one of the most important things in life. So be prepared to have your own vision for securing your future and take the challenges head on.
My colleagues and I therefore wish you great success and look forward to celebrating with you in a time to come during your graduation. Thanks a lot for choosing and accepting to study at Soroti University. You will have a rewarding experience here.
